Do Not Worry(A)

25“Therefore I say to you, (B)do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26(C)Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27Which of you by worrying can add one [a]cubit to his [b]stature?

28“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not [c]arrayed like one of these. 30Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

31“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33But (D)seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Do Not Worry(A)

25“Therefore I tell you, do not worry(B) about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.(C) Are you not much more valuable than they?(D) 27Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[a]?(E)

28“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor(F) was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?(G) 31So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.(H) 33But seek first his kingdom(I) and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.(J)

Appreciation of the Mystery

14For this reason I bow my knees to the (A)Father [a]of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16that He would grant you, (B)according to the riches of His glory, (C)to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in (D)the inner man, 17(E)that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, (F)being rooted and grounded in love, 18(G)may be able to comprehend with all the saints (H)what is the width and length and depth and height— 19to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled (I)with all the fullness of God.

20Now (J)to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly (K)above all that we ask or think, (L)according to the power that works in us, 21(M)to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

A Prayer for the Ephesians

14For this reason I kneel(A) before the Father, 15from whom every family[a] in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16I pray that out of his glorious riches(B) he may strengthen you with power(C) through his Spirit in your inner being,(D) 17so that Christ may dwell in your hearts(E) through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted(F) and established in love, 18may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people,(G) to grasp how wide and long and high and deep(H) is the love of Christ, 19and to know this love that surpasses knowledge(I)—that you may be filled(J) to the measure of all the fullness of God.(K)

20Now to him who is able(L) to do immeasurably more than all we ask(M) or imagine, according to his power(N) that is at work within us, 21to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.(O)
