Summer is unofficially under way in New Jersey with the arrival of Memorial Day Weekend ushering in beach season. Unfortunately, that also means you have to pay to get on the beach now in most Jersey Shore towns.

Most New Jersey’s beaches require paid badges or tags, with pricing ranging from daily passes for $3.50 to seasonal badges that will set you back $150. Many early-bird discounts expire before Memorial Day, but several towns offer lower prices through May 31 and a few even a bit later until mid-June.

  • ALSO: Jersey Shore beaches get strict on big tents, canopies. See latest town-by-town rules.

More than a dozen beaches offer free entry to veterans, and many have discount options for seniors and those with disabilities. Entrance is generally free for young children.
