The Ryan Walters era at Purdue didn't start exactly how the Boilermakers wanted after a 39-35 loss to Fresno State, but there were plenty of things to be optimistic about for fans.

Hudson Card threw for 136 yards (15 for 21) in the first half. Devin Mockobee ran for 33 yards on 9 attempts. Max Klare led the receivers with 5 receptions for 48 yards.

On defense, Dillon Thieneman led the way with 5 total tackles. Isaiah Nichols had a sack for the Boilers.

Welp, there goes Purdue's 17-point lead. The Hokies really turned it on in the last few minutes of the second half. Starting at their own 30-yard line, Virginia Tech marched down the field to tie things up with a 2-yard touchdown pass from Grant Wells to Jaylin Lane.
